Mellow Kids Watch comes with Contactless payment.

A new watch designed for children is set to hit the market on 15 August 2022. The Mellow Kids Watch will allow kids to make contactless payments, just like an Apple Watch or Fitbit.

The watch will also track activity levels and sleep patterns, and parents will be able to set spending limits and monitor their child’s activity via a smartphone app. According to the manufacturer, the watch is “the perfect way for kids to stay connected and active,” and it’s sure to be a hit with parents looking for ways to keep track of their child’s whereabouts and spending.

The Mellow Watch lets parents fund a virtual debit card powered by Mastercard or Visa to enable payments for their children. The watch itself is designed for kids ages 5-13 and features a colorful, kid-friendly interface. The Mellow app lets parents view and control their child’s payments and receive notifications when a purchase is made.

On top of that, the Mellow Watch comes with 4G/LTE and built-in GPS support, allowing parents to call and track their child’s location at any time. The watch will receive calls only from the pre-approved numbers and reject all the calls from unapproved numbers.

The watch comes with IP67 water resistance. The company claims that the battery will last 72 on a single charge. However, still, there is no mention of the price, but it would be interesting to see how this new product fares in the market.

Even though the Mellow watch aimed to build financial literacy among children, some parents are skeptical about the idea of their kids having access to money. “I’m not sure I want my kid to have a debit card linked to my bank account,” one parent told WearablesTechs. “I’d rather just give them cash for allowance.”

Another parent said, “I like the idea of the Mellow Watch, but I’m worried about the security. I don’t want my child’s personal information and location to be compromised.”
